Tasting Possibility

Updated: Jan 14, 2023

5 AM kayak paddles to see the sun rise over Mt. Baker, crabs freshly caught, cooked and drenched in butter, stars overhead reflected in the water, days spent on the water with guests. July is proving that transitions can be smooth and the rewards of the check marks were many.

The list was down to a handful of simpler items without timelines. People were calling and reserving days to visit. Plans were made for fishing forays, whales and porpoises were plentifully observed on our outings. We were testing and exploring new equipment, new territories. Leaving the dock ever more frequently for any excuse was our indulgence and reward for several months of diligence.

It is interesting to observe the way we generate and build our own excitement and enthusiasm once we give ourselves the green light of permission. When we started noticing that the various systems were coming together and the people helping us were talking about wrapping things up, we allowed ourselves to consider what was next in the process. Now it was time to arrange schedules and places to visit.

Nights and mornings were spent at anchor, sharing gourmet fresh seafood meals, enjoying conversations that focused on people not boat gear. By the end of July we were looking forward to heading off for 2 weeks of cruising and hanging out with friends both new and old. It was time to step into the full creation and adventure of what comes next.
